MM43 events began during the Friday evening
cook out which was attended by most everyone. The weather
was great, the fire felt good and anticipation was running
high as folks talked about fish that were caught during the
pre fishing days before MM43.
MM43 is in the books with a total of 7 fish caught and as
expected fishing was as musky fishing always is. Some saw
fish, some did not. Some caught fish, some did not. The
field or 29 fishermen took to the waters of North and South
Twin on Saturday morning with wind kicking in as it
sometimes does on the Twins. This made for some rough
fishing conditions but the troops endured the conditions to
put two fish in the boat on Saturday morning. Glenn Melius
and Musky Pete boated fish with others spotting fish.
At noon the lunch was served in the North Twin Lodge
recreation hall where Corey Earl, last falls winner put on a
heck of a feed with shredded turkey, baked beans, pasta
salad and all the rest of the stuff to go with it. The
raffle was a big success once again with 5 great prizes
given away and then everyone obtained a door prize in that
drawing.
After lunch it was off to fish other waters
for most to get out of the wind and although only two fish
were caught one fish caught by Dick Grasse will go down as
the smallest musky ever caught in MM history with is 9"
musky. Gordie Shaw was able to boat a fish on one of his
favorite lakes in the area.
Sunday was not much different than Saturday morning with
folks going to many other lakes in search of the winning
fish. There were 3 fish caught on Sunday morning, two by
Mark Melius and the winning fish was caught by newbie Wayne
Beyer on Snipe Lake. His 41 1/4" monster hit a Mepps
bucktail and the fight was on.
Congratulations to Wayne Beyer for catching the winning fish
on his first ever Musky Mania. I am sure there will be many
more in your future as the musky fever has hit. |
