WOW!! What a
MM39. We
set some records at MM39 this past weekend. Some of us pre-fished
on Fri. June 1st and Glen Melius got a 43" fish.
I caught a few nice Smallies. Gary Borkowski caught a nice 21"
Smallie.
Saturday started
out a little slow but some fish were caught.
At noon there were about 4 fish on the board. Corey Earl caught
the 1st fish of the day at 5:30 am and Gordie Shaw followed with
one at 5:50am. Gary Borkowski and Justin Mundt also caught fish.
Had a great lunch at noon with brats, burgers, and all the
fixings. Thanks to my wife, Kathy, for making the great potato
salad and chocolate chip caramel dessert. Everyone won a door
prize and had some great raffle prizes. Had the MM Video on TV
which showed some of the highlights from the past 38 outings.
Back out fishing for the afternoon and the action picked up with
the big fish moving around 8pm. My partner, Gary, "Pop-Top"
Winters, put on a top raider and we fished around the island on N.
Twin and a big fish nailed it. Musky Pete "Set the hook!!". "I
did" "What do I do??". "Get him in the boat". Gary did a good job
keeping a tight line and we soon had him in the boat. In the net I
said it was a 43" or 44" fish. Got the hook out and lifted him out
of the net and into the livewell. In the livewell, I said it was
more like 45-46". Headed to the N. Twin Lodge dock to show off and
get photos. Lots of people there to witness the fish. Taped out at
an even 46" and around 24-25#. Got some good photos and video and
released the fish. We were sure 1st place was ours, but Greg
Friedrich came in with a monster 49" fish also caught on a surface
bait. And, Dick Grasse also lost a nice fish on a Topper Stopper,
had it up to the boat when the bait just pulled loose. Perry and
Jane Clough also spotted a nice fish but not interested in any
baits. A 49" fish was a big fish to beat, but a lot of people
headed out Sunday morning to try. |

No fish were
caught on Sunday but I had a mid 40" fish follow up to the boat on
a surface bait. Also had 3 other follows but no takers. Had the
awards on Sunday at 12:30pm. Corey won a bait for 1st fish caught
and David and Pierre each won something for smallest fish.
We discussed MM40 out fall outing. THE DATE HAS BEEN MOVED!! WE
WILL HAVE THE FALL OUTING OCT. 13TH AND 14TH, NOT THE 1ST WEEKEND
IN OCT. This will help out North Twin Lodge as the 1st weekend
is Cranberry Fest in Eagle River and is a busy weekend for them so
if we moved the outing it will free up a lot of rooms for them for
Cranberry Fest.

up to date. Right now we have cabin #9 open which sleeps 6 and a
couple other cabins that we can add a couple people to.
